Boys' JV Basketball 2011-2012 Season Recap
Despite a slow start, the Blair boys JV basketball team finished its season strong by winning ten out of its final twelve contests. The final month and a half of the season exemplified the hard work and effort that the boys put into practice throughout the entire season. Future varsity stand out Brett Lubreski led the scoring effort for the Bucs, averaging just shy of 20 points per contest. Demetrius Daltrus and Harrison Dunne-Polite, two of the teams starters, did a great job on the boards as well as creating plays on defense. The starting line-up was capped by two juniors Nico Parauda and Matoko Noudehou who were the day to day leaders of the team, leading young and old alike with their tenacious work ethic and drive to win. Each player who came off the bench added a unique dynamic to the JV basketball team this year. Lucas Ludgate had many solid minutes, particularly in a close loss to perennial powerhouse St. Benedicts, adding key points down the stretch of that game. Martin Yu offered the ability to penetrate the lane off of his dribble. His court vision also made him a great threat against zone defenses. Freshman sensation Jonathan Nowell intimidated opposing defenses with his crisp shot and pure athleticism. Jonathan had several dunks this year that fired up our team as well as our fans. Lucas Barbey, a first year sophomore at Blair, added quality minutes off the bench all season. His ability to dribble the ball up the court gave us another threat against pressure defenses and his pure shot allowed us to spread the wealth with another scorer. Jackson Davis also did a great job whenever his number was called. He was spectacular on the defensive boards and added a fresh effort on defense. Kyle Tierney played well in several games this season, particularly in the final game of the season where he added several key baskets and rebounds. Finally, John Jaing, one of the purest shooters on the team, dazzled opposing teams with his lethal spin move under the hoop and jump shot from the baseline. The boys capped their season with a win against The Hill School on Febuary 18th, finishing with a record of 6-2 against MAPL competition. |
