Boys' 3rds Basketball 2011-2012 Season Recap
The Blair thirds basketball team finished the season on a high note with a come from behind victory over Pennington. Down 7 with 3 minutes to go, the Bucs relied on clutch shooting from sophomores Matt Gillette and Kevin Breslin, as well as great defense from Eddie Lehr to tie the game with 30 seconds left. After Pennington hit a free throw to go up 1, sophomore Mike Park hit the game winning layup with 10 seconds to go. That win was the Bucs 4th of the season, and 2nd in a row.
Of course, the season had numerous highlights outside of the big Pennington win. Eddie Lehr led an earlier come from behind win over the same Pennington squad, scoring 4 points in the final minute to secure the victory. The Bucs needed no such late heroics in their other two victories, a convincing win over the Hill School, and a revenge win over arch rival Peddie, who had defeated Blair a few weeks earlier. In that victory, Blair's second unit of Jon Choi, Allan Wu, Brian Uzbay, Guillermo Delso and Ted Yang played a key role, relieving the starters for several minutes in the first half, and holding Peddie scoreless in the process. From there, the regular starters Mike Park, Kevin Breslin, Matt Gillette, Eric Flora and Eddie Lehr took over, leading the Bucs to victory.
Aside from wins and losses, the Bucs enjoyed a great season, balancing hard work and fun in practice, and improving along the way.
