Dance-A-Tribute Takes the Stage
The Blair Academy Dance Department, headed by Denise Alexander-Male, performed their fourth annual concert February 22 and 23 in the Dubois Theatre of Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts. As almost 50 dancers took the stage, the night brought a very exciting, diverse and poignant show highlighted by a special tribute to the September 11th tragedy. The concert also featured special performances by Anwar Jones and the faculty and staff children.
Ms. Alexander-Male noted that the growth of the Blair Academy Dance Department has tripled in the last three years. The nights performance was geared to demonstrate the wide variety of dance techniques studied and explored during the students class and activity times. The dancers
ranged from experienced to beginners, but all worked extremely hard to put on a great show. Two of the dance performances were also choreographed by students Jamie Skuba and Anwar Jones.
