Blair’s Instrumental Musicians End Their Season Strong

The Instrumental Spring Concert was on Thursday, May 9th, at 7:15 p.m. in DuBois Theater of Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts. Both the Wind Symphony and the String Orchestra performed. Each group performed two pieces, and the combined ensembles performed one piece, “Russian Sailors’ Dance.”

“It was definitely the best performance the instrumental program has had this year, and though we’re losing six seniors, we’re looking forward to a much bigger program in the years ahead,” stated Dana Williams, director of instrumental music at Blair Academy.

Pieces performed by the String Orchestra:
Adagio Cantabile from Sonata Pathetique — Beethoven
Themes from The Moldau — Smetana

Combined piece:
Russian Sailors’ Dance — Gliere

Wind Symphony pieces:
Summertime — Gershwin
Valdres — Hanssen
