Dance Students Live Life of “Girl in the Yellow Dress” and her Fellow Cast Members

It’s truly remarkable to see, first-hand, just how much Blair’s dance devotees can cram into one day. They left campus at 7:30 a.m. one balmy day in March and returned around midnight after an exhilarating experience in the Big Apple with dance instructor Denise Alexander-Male, a handful of classmates and chaperones.

First stop was the New Dance Group studio, where they took a master class conducted by Tome Cousin, a dancer in the Broadway hit, “Contact.” Tome took them through the paces and actually taught them a routine from “Contact,” which they would later see that evening. Another master class followed, this time conducted by a dancer from “Fosse” who led an unbelievable warm-up session. The exertion on the part of the student dancers was evidenced by an entire wall of fogged-up mirrors! After a few hours of free time to enjoy the city, they headed for dinner and, finally, to Lincoln Center for the show itself featuring Tome and the dazzling “girl in the yellow dress” at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
