Glade 2002: Photographs by Douglas Peterson

The public is invited to a reception for Glade 2002, an exhibit of photographs by Douglas Peterson, on Thursday, May 2, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Romano Gallery in the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts at Blair Academy. The exhibit runs from April 29 through May 29.

According to Peterson, his platinum prints offer the advantage of a “very long scale of gray tones, permitting a picture to be printed much lighter or darker than normal but with all the details fully visible.” He explained, “Both the platinum and silver printing process can be manipulated to produce a picture constructed of overlaid luminous grays.”

The artist received his B.S. degree in engineering from Syracuse University and later established a commercial photography business specializing in architectural and industrial documentation. An intensive study of photographic science and history followed, along with private study with artists Scott Hyde and Harold Feinstein. Since 1990 he has been involved full time with landscape photography projects in Washington, Mississippi, Utah and Pennsylvania.

Peterson teaches photography at Sussex County Community College and maintains a studio in Andover, New Jersey. His work appears in books and magazine and in various collections, including the Montclair Art Museum, Johnson & Johnson Corporation, Ilford Imaging Ltd., and other private collections. He has exhibited his photographs throughout New Jersey as well as in New York City at Rosenberg and Kaufman Fine Art.

The Romano Gallery is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and by appointment. Please call (908) 362-6121, ext. 5690, for more information.
