The public is cordially invited to a reception for Narrative Quilts by Margaret Beach on Thursday, February 13, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Romano Gallery in the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts at Blair Academy. The exhibit runs from February 5 - March 7, 2003. Beachs quilts depict various moments in her life; for instance, an inscription on one of her works reads, Having delivered our only child to the western university of his choice, we returned home, seeking solace in the austere vistas of the high plateau.
Beach has had one-person and group exhibits at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, Schering Plough, Watchung Arts Center and numerous other venues within New Jersey and outside the state. She has also received awards from and participated in juried shows at museums, galleries and art shows in the New York metropolitan area. Her quilts are part of permanent and private collections throughout the United States.
Beach, who resides in Scotch Plains, N.J., received a BSFA in international economics from Georgetown University, and an MBA in international business and finance from New York University.
The Romano Gallery is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and by appointment. Please call (908) 362-6121, ext. 5690, for more information.
