Guitarist Anton Del Forno Performs at Blair

Anton Del Forno, renown guitarist, performed on Thursday, February 6th, 2003 in the Clinton Art Gallery as part of Blair Academy’s Bartow Coffeehouse.

Anton Del Forno is recognized by critics as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Besides performing all over the world, Mr. Del Forno also enjoys teaching young people about the guitar. He conducts master classes and workshops at schools of all levels and is responsible for creating the guitar department at St. John’s University in New York. Del Forno continues to enrich the guitar literature through his original compositions and transcriptions.

Anton Del Forno was born in New Jersey and grew up in North Bergen. At twelve years old, Anton took up the steel string plectrum guitar and formed a band called “The Orphans” with his brother Ralph. Anton was already performing in night clubs on a weekly basis at the age of fourteen and a few years later their group cut their first Rock ‘n’ Roll record and was well on their way to fame. At seventeen years old, Anton abandoned the electric guitar and took up classical guitar upon hearing its unlimited possibilities. In 1972, he graduated with highest honors from Mannes College of Music in New York.
