Professor Megyesi on Eastern European Economies
Professor Gabriella Megyesi spoke in Blair Academys Cowan Auditorium on October 29th as part of the Society of Skeptics lecture series.
Ms. Megyesi told Blair students of the everyday difficulties under socialism in Hungary, and also the problems faced in the transition to a market economy. Her experiences provided lively examples of the contrast between socialist promises and reality. In addition, her presentation offered students insights into the problems of the transition to a market economy.
Gabriella Megyesi is the Paul Heyne Fellow in Economic Education at the Foundation for Economic Education. Ms. Megyesi teaches economics at the Britannica International School in Budapest, Hungary and formerly taught economics (in English) at Alternaltív Kôzgazdásgi Gimnázium, a private school in Budapest.
