The Blair Academy Players Present Moon Over Buffalo
The Blair Academy Players finish their 2002-03 season with Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig on April 30, May 1, and 2 at 8 p.m. and May 3 at 4 p.m. in the Wean Studio Theatre. Reserved general admission is available by calling Craig Evans at (908) 362-6121 Ext. 5682. Tickets are $5.
The play concerns the theatrical fortunes of itinerant actors Charlotte and George Hay in the early 1950s who are hoping to get their acting lives back on track. The veteran actors are played by senior Jessica Rumore and junior Michael Spadaccini. The Hays are currently in Buffalo doing Cyrano De Bergerac and Private Lives in repertory, down on their luck and hoping for a career-saving viewing by film director Frank Capra. Assisting them is gofer Paul, played by junior Phil Mauriello, who is still recovering from a failed relationship with the Hays daughter Rosalind, played by sophomore Lauren Ricciardi. Rosalind has returned to announce her engagement to weatherman Howard, portrayed by senior Zach Weisberg. Things begin to unravel when ingénue Eileen, played by sophomore Susannah Jones, announces that she is pregnant with Georges child, causing Charlotte to announce her intentions to run away with company lawyer Richard, played by junior Michael King, and George to get drunk! Further complicating matters are the actions of hard-of-hearing mother Ethel, played by senior Samantha Baker. Mistaken identities, wrong lines, romantic entanglements, and slamming doors make this a classic farce.
Ludwig is known for his Broadway and West End successes of Lend Me A Tenor and Crazy for You. The show is being student directed by junior Dana Schultz and technically directed by Wayne Rasmussen.
