Artist Randy Walker Unveils New Collection at the Romano Gallery
Artist Randall A. Walker unveils his new design series, Bright Lights Big City, during his solo exhibit from March 26 through April 26 in the Romano Gallery in the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts.
The new series was inspired by Walkers recent move from Maine back to Hardwick, New Jersey. He explained, My previous collections were very appealing to the outdoor enthusiast and were influenced by our surroundings in Maine. Now that weve moved back to the metro area, I wanted to try something a little different. My brother lives and works in New York, and my wife telecommutes for a New York-based company. Despite the horrific events of 9/11, we still enjoy spending time in the Big City.
Each design in the series will be displayed in Walkers award-winning cut-paper collage. A fine art licensing agent recently commented, His work is really attractive, and I find it amazing that he creates it with cut-paper. I have worked with collage artists for years but never have seen this technique, which he does so well. Walker will also have collage and archival-quality digital prints featuring his previous collections: On the Sea, Signs of Spring, Colors of Fall, Hearts, In the Snow and Snowbound.
Walker graduated from North Warren Regional High School in 1984 and obtained an engineering degree from Lafayette College in 1988. He then pursued a career as a management consultant and operations manager but retired in 1998 to pursue his true passiondesign. Walker currently lives in Hardwick with his wife, Maggie, and two sons, Ryan and Kyle. For more information about the artist or to view his work, visit www.artworkbyrandall.com.
