Emmanuel Bello ’04 Is First Blair Recipient of Morehead Scholarship

Emmanuel Bello ’04 recently spent four days in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as a finalist in the Morehead Scholarship Competition. On March 3, he learned that he was offered a scholarship, making him the first Blair student ever to win the prestigious Morehead Scholarship. Emmanuel will decide by early April whether to accept the offer; his other college interest is Yale.

A Morehead Scholarship provides a four-year undergraduate scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Scholars also receive tuition, books, room and board, and a laptop computer, along with a stipend for spending money each semester. According to their Web site, “Moreheads enjoy close relationships with some of the world’s greatest scholars... Perhaps most important, the Morehead is designed to help every Scholar discover the very best he or she has to offer.”
