Blair Academy Faculty Players Present “The Dining Room”

The Blair Academy Faculty Players presented A. R. Gurney’s “The Dining Room” on December 11, 12 and 13 in the Wean Studio Theatre of the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts.

“The Dining Room” is a series of short vignettes set in the dining room of an unnamed American town, showing the intricacies of family life over the last hundred years. The cast included Headmaster Chan Hardwick, as well as administrators, teachers, staff, librarians and spouses. The cast included Peter Amerman, Charles Danhof, Chris Eanes, Beth Flores, Stacey Gorski, Penn Graves, Chris Greene, Kate Greene, Sara Kaufman, Josh Markey, Kyle Mason, Holly Newcomb, Ryan Pagotto, Lance Raymer, Elayne Reiner, Lois Stival, Amy Vachris and Kate Young.

The faculty players have performed “The Fantasticks,” “Godspell,” “A Thurber Carnival,” “Scenes from American Life” and “A Cheever Evening.” The last three plays have been by Gurney, who often writes ensemble plays suitable for such a diverse and numerous cast. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit a charity yet to be determined. Past charities have included the American Cancer Society, the Child Leukemia foundation, the Blairstown Rescue Squad and Alzheimer’s Foundation.
