Math Students Compete and Win!

On April 23, approximately 40 Blair mathematics students competed in competitions at Warren County Community College on three different levels, including Geometry, Algebra 2 or post-Algebra 2, depending on their current math placement. Students took one hour-long test individually; May Janyasupab ’04 finished first, Kathie Jang ’04 second and Hamilton Davis ’04 third at the post-Algebra 2 competition.

Students were then divided into groups of four or five to take another hour-long test for the team competition. The team of Phaedra Ballard ’06, Dan Auguste ’06, Teddy Hedden ’07 and Craig Hendrickson ’06 placed third in the Geometry competition; James Lee ’06, Young Hoon Hwang ’06, Matt Fields ’05 and Ben Browning ’06 won the Algebra 2 competition; and Jin-Sae Yoo ’04, Tejas Niranjan ’04, Ted Hesser ’04 and Kathie Jang ’04 won the post-Algebra 2 competition.
