Blair Wrestlers on PBS

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) arts program entitled, “Art:21-Art in the Twenty-First Century,” featured some members of the Blair wrestling team when it aired Tuesday evening (September 9) from 9:00 pm till 11:00 pm on PBS Channel 13 out of New York. The Blair-related segment appeared during the 10:00 hour. Conceived as four one-hour episodes a season for four seasons, the program featured painters, sculptors and photographers, among other types of artists. Included was Collier Schorr who chose to photograph Blair wrestlers (as she has enjoyed doing in the past) as part of the segment on her particular art form. Each program was introduced by a celebrity who is knowledgeable about contemporary art, including the likes of actor, writer and art collector Steve Martin and athlete and collector John McEnroe.

Camera crews and producers journeyed from New York City to join the wrestling team for practice in December 2002. Collier was taped as she shot photos of their ever-impressive drills, especially her favorite, the jump-rope exercise routine.
