Former Faculty Member, Peter Hahn, Returns to Campus

Peter Hahn, former Blair faculty member and Habitat for Humanity worker, spoke as part of the Society of Skeptics lecture series on February 17, 2004, in Cowan Auditorium.

Peter was a beloved faculty member from 1970-1994, an admissions director, college counselor and history teacher. Perhaps he is best remembered for his close relationships to innumerable students and his continued effort to forge links with the alumni constituency. He was designated an honorary member of the Class of 1994.

Peter Hahn spoke to the Skeptic’s audience about the Habitat for Humanity program which he now works for in Austin, Texas, and also told students how to become involved in this dynamic worldwide movement.

Recognizing a great need in the world for eliminating poverty housing, a young self-made millionaire and his wife, Millard and Linda Fuller, founded what is now Habitat for Humanity International in Americus, Georgia, in 1976. Since that time, Habitat has become active in more than 92 countries, has built more than 150,000 houses in which more that 750,000 people live and has made a deep impact on the social fabric of thousands of communities around the world. Houses are built by volunteers as well as the potential homeowners. Habitat is not a handout program but rather a powerful example of how people working together can change the world for the better.
