Sadie Hawkins Dinner Dance a Blast

On Saturday, January 24, Blair held its annual Sadie Hawkins Dance in the Romano Dining Hall. Despite the cold night temperatures, students left their dorms and homes, dressed in formal attire, to meet up with their dates and, as Will Smith would say, “get jiggy with it.”

Before the dance started, the Hardwicks invited the students to Sharpe House (the Headmaster’s home) to take pictures and drink some “mocktails” before dinner. As four-year senior Tommy Gianis said, “Mocktails is a fun way to kick off the night.”

After mocktails, the students headed over to the dinning hall for dinner. Carm Mazza and his dinning staff prepared a great meal of breaded chicken cutlet, marinated flank steak and pasta. For dessert, the menu included chocolate and plain cheesecake, and some delectable chocolate-covered strawberries. Approximately 320 students attended the dinner portion of the event. After dinner, the tables were cleared and the DJ began playing music. At that point, about 100 more students showed up for some good old-fashioned fun.

After the dance, senior Alex Berardi commented, “On a whole, I thought the night was a blast. It really celebrated the unity Blair has as a school.” The dance, which lasted about three hours, ended at 11:15. — Harrison Iuliano ’04
