Record Number Chosen for Governor’s Schools

Four Blair students were admitted to the New Jersey Governor’s Schools, as follows: Anthony D’Amato ’06, Governor’s School for International Studies; Tyler Pruce ’06, Governor’s School on the Environment; Lara Bucarey ’06, Governor’s School on Public Issues and the Future of New Jersey, and Jackie Palmore ’06, Governor’s School for the Sciences.

According to Sam Bacon, dean of academics at Blair, “The schools are highly selective, all-expenses-paid residential programs that last for four to five weeks during the summer. Open to juniors who are residents of New Jersey, The Governor’s Schools are held on New Jersey college campuses and limited to 100 students each. While Blair has been successful in having at least one or two students accepted to the Governor’s Schools each year, this year’s total of four students is both remarkable and testimony to the strength of the Class of 2006.”
