Service Award Honors Two This Year
Each year, Blair’s Blue and White Key Society presents a special award to a member of the community, based on that person’s service, honor and leadership to the school. The 2005 honors were actually given to two people this year, Kathy Freeman, school office secretary, and Mike Otinsky, a member of the building maintenance department, during School Meeting in May.
Members of the Society noted that, among her many other duties, Ms. Freeman is “the Voice of Blair. She answers the phone at the switchboard six days a week, helps deliver the mail and reschedules our exams when there is a conflict.” As for Mr. Otinksy, he was described as “the MacGyver of the maintenance crew, fixing everything from electrical circuits to kitchen appliances.”
Kathy began her full-time career with Blair in the fall of 1986 but worked part-time at Blair while still in high school, beginning in 1976. Mike has been employed at Blair for the past 15 years.
