Winnie Adrien ’06 and coaches Julianne Schloat and Rachel Stone

Winnie Adrien ’06 achieved her 1,000th career point in the first quarter of a winning home game (45-40) against Hill on January 25, 2006. A four-year starter, Winnie garnered a total of 1,007 career points by game’s end.

Among the newspaper articles about Winnie’s success is a feature is the January 29 edition of the New Jersey Herald, “In It For The Long Haul” by Stefan Bondy.

Bondy, who described Winnie as “an elite two-sport athlete,” wrote, “Adrien went to Blair for academic opportunities, but her athletic prominence and Division-I scholarship offer were an unexpected bonus…Adrien is getting D-1 offers for basketball, but choosing a college has been tougher than picking a high school. Adrien wants to play soccer and basketball. The only programs offering that are D-III…But Adrien’s priority remains the same as when she chose Blair - academics. More than scoring another 1,000 points, she wants to be a doctor and study sports medicine. It’s a goal she feels was made easier by her decision four years ago. ‘I can’t really see myself without Blair,’ she said. ‘It has had such a positive influence on my life.’ ” Posted 1/30
